Μακεδονία
Οι Μακεδόνες Έλληνες γνωστοί,
γνήσια τέκνα Έλληνος αρχαίου,
Ελληνική συμπλήρωσαν φυλή,
δόξα Ελληνισμού παλαιού και νέου!
Ομηρικών επών κλέη πολλά,
που δόξασαν υψώματα της Τροίας,
στη γη των Μακεδόνων ζουν ξανά,
Πάτροκλος, Αχιλλεύς, Ήρα και Δίας.
Έργα καλά και λόγια λιγοστά
στους παλαιούς τους Έλληνες ταιριάζουν,
οι Δωριείς απ’ όλα τα παιδιά
του Έλληνος σαν ήρωες φαντάζουν.
Ίωνες, δες, και Δωριείς ζητούν
το σκήπτρο δολερής Ηγεμονίας,
σαράκι της διχόνοιας δε μπορούν
ν’ αντισταθούν για χάρη κοινωνίας.
Δεσμός γερός τους Έλληνες κρατά,
σαν τα κλαδιά του δέντρου ενωμένους,
γλώσσα, θρησκεία κι έθιμα παλιά,
από βαρβάρων φύλα χωρισμένους.
Τα Περσικά τα στίφη, σαν φανούν,
Μακεδονίας γη θα την πατήσουν,
μα Θερμοπύλες Έλληνες φρουρούν,
στης Φθίας τα στενά θα σταματήσουν.
Δεινές της Σαλαμίνας ιαχές
θα προστεθούν σε Μαραθώνα δόξα,
θα στήσουν τρόπαια στις Πλαταιές
Ελλήνων μαχητών σπαθιά και τόξα!
Εκεί του Αλεξάνδρου Ξακουστού
ένας παππούς σαν ήρωας θα δράσει,
τιμή και δόξα του Ελληνισμού,
όλεθρο στους βαρβάρους θα μοιράσει.
Νεότερος Αλέξανδρος, μαθές,
με δύναμη και θάρρος θα προσδώσει
ενότητα σ’ Ελλήνων τις φυλές,
Περσών τους βασιλείς θα κεραυνώσει.
Ολύμπιου Διός θενά κληθεί
γιος, δόξας νέο φως θα μεταδώσει
στα πέρατα του κόσμου με ορμή
Έλληνες από διχασμούς θα σώσει.
Πολλών τα βλέμματα καραδοκούν
Μακεδονίας γη την καρποφόρα,
ιστορική παραγραφή τολμούν,
πότε στα σκοτεινά, πότε στα φόρα.
Πατρίδας τέκνα μείνετε πιστά,
στα πάτρια Ελληνικά σας ήθη,
αν χρειαστεί προτάξετε ξανά
ηρωικά και νικηφόρα στήθη!
Της αριστείας έπαινος κοσμεί
τις κεφαλές των αθλοφόρων νέων,
δόξα, τιμή και δάφνης το κλαδί,
για γόνους των προγόνων των γενναίων.
Δόξες τρανές φυλής ξεχωριστής,
Αθήνας και της Σπάρτης μεγαλεία,
μαζί να τα συνδέσεις αν μπορείς,
ισότιμη θα βρεις Μακεδονία!
Παιδείας παλαιάς, Ελληνικής,
παρέλαβε τη δάδα τεταμένη,
με κόπο αρετής κι υπομονής
μετέδωσε σ’ όλη την Οικουμένη.
Ανατολής και Δύσης παρυφές
φωτίστηκαν από φωτός ακτίνες,
Ελληνικού του λόγου συνταγές,
παγκόσμιου δεσμού τις άγιες ίνες.
Μονάρχης Νους τον κόσμο κυβερνά,
μόνος αυτός στις πόλεις δίνει νόμους,
της Αρετής ο στέφανος τιμά
αγώνων τους πρωταθλητές και μόνους!
Macedonia
Well-known Hellenes the Macedonians,
Genuine offspring of the ancient Hellene.
They complemented the Hellenic race,
Being the glory of historical Hellenism!
The famous events of Homeric epics,
That glorified once the hills of Troy,
Lived again in the Macedonian lands,
Legends of Achilles, Patroclus, Gods.
To the Ancient Hellenes well befitted
The great works and measured words.
Of all the children of ancient Hellene,
Only the Dorians acted like heroes.
But the Ionian Hellenes challenged
The Dorians for the hegemonic title,
Being unable to resist the temptation
And to act for the Hellenic harmony!
A durable tie united all the Hellenes,
Holding them like a tree’s branches,
A common tongue, religion, customs,
Segregating them from the Barbarians.
When the Persian armies appeared,
The Macedonian land was overrun,
But Thermopylae were guarded well
By Hellenes who stopped them there.
The new victorious sounds of Salamis
Will be added to those of Marathon,
And Hellenic warriors will erect high
The trophies at the field of Plataea.
There, too, Alexander’s grandfather,
Like a true hero, will fight to the end,
Bringing glory and honor to Greeks
And to Barbarians a lasting shame!
Later on the younger Alexander,
With great courage and power
Will bring unity to the Hellenes,
And end to the Persian Empire!
The Son of Zeus he will be called,
He will spread new glorious light
To the very end of known world,
Putting an end to Greek discord.
But now many envious eyes turn
To Macedonia’s fertile land again,
A historical fraud is perpetrated
Sometimes secretly and others not.
May all patriotic Hellenes remain
Faithful to the future of Hellenism!
Ready, if need be, to protect it anew
With heroic and victorious arms!
May the praise of excellence décor
The heads of the youth like a wreath,
Bestowing glory and honor to them,
Offspring of the glorious ancestors!
If one were to add up the past glories
Of the race, Athenian and Startan too,
And compare them to the Macedonian,
He would find them to be equivalent!
The extended torch of Hellenism
Macedonia received gratefully,
And spread its light far and wide
With the power of virtuous acts.
The corners of the East and West
Were lightened by new Hellenic light,
Precepts of the Hellenic wisdom,
As universal bond of fine threads.
Nous, as a Monarch, rules the Cosmos,
Giving laws to the cities as a lawgiver,
The crown of excellence shall honor
Only the protagonists in the Games!
