Subject: State Magazine's "Macedonia" article
As concerned Americans, we are gravely concerned to see our state department promoting historical revisionism and identity theft in the State Magazine’s April article on "Macedonia". The fact is the people of FYROM* called their country Vardarska until recently, and Paionia in ancient times.
Vardarska/FYROM* has no connection whatsoever to ancient or modern Macedonians. More than 360 of the world’s foremost archeologist and historians, in a letter to President Obama, ask the United States to correct the mistake of the previous administration and refer to Vardarska as FYROM* until the name dispute is resolved.
In their letter, the experts show that ALL evidence proves beyond any doubt that Macedonia and the Macedonians, past and present, are Greek.

More than 70% of ancient Macedonia is in Greece, the ancient and present Macedonians spoke and speak Greek, Alexander the Great and his father were born in Greece and spread the Greek culture. The Vardarskans speak Bulgarian, Serbian and Albanian, and have no Macedonian ancient monuments in their country.
The Vardarskans, who today claim to be "Macedonians", are Slavs who have been brainwashed during the communist era by Tito and Stalin who were attempting to expand south into Greece and the Aegean.
All evidence proves that the leadership of Vardarska/FYROM has territorial ambitions towards northern Greece. Sadly, this article promotes identity theft and encourages their dreams of a "Greater Macedonia" as they lay claims on northern Greece, southwest Bulgaria, and eastern Albania.
Former U.S. Secretary of State Edward Stettinius stated “. . . This government considers talk of Macedonian ”nation”, Macedonian “Fatherland”, or Macedonian “national consciousness” to be unjustified demagoguery representing no ethnic nor political reality, and sees in its present revival a possible cloak for aggressive intentions against Greece.”
Greece is the only nation in the region which has always stood on the side of the United States, and which shares the same ideological values and beliefs as we do. It is time that we also stand by our true ally Greece against this aggression.
