(a HEC Project)

A.    Forum Purpose

The Forum is intended as a means of assisting Scholars in communicating with each other on academic research and matters related to Hellenism. In addition to the Forum (a listserv application), HEC also provides an internet site, the HEC Scholars Blog, which is open to all “Scholars” and can be used by the Forum subscribers, subject to the set of specific Guidelines below. Appropriate moderation is applied to both the Forum and the HEC Scholars Blog. All The Forum posts can be viewed in the Listserv archives.

• The Forum is a project of HEC and it is open to any Scholar.
• There is no subscription fee, but members are expected to make a small annual contribution of minimum 25 euros
• The Forum subscribers are not HEC members unless they apply for HEC membership
• To become a HEC member and volunteer – see HEC Members page
• The Forum, as a Project of HEC, operates under the HEC domain therefore its subscribers must be aware and comply with the HEC by-laws

B.    Forum Goals & Objectives

The Forum has about 5,000 subscribers with the best expertise in many areas. Collectively and in small groups, the participants can work on constructive projects.  We in HEC are ready to provide our technical expertise and communications to take upon any organized project for a worthwhile cause within the boundaries of our Charter.  We have enabled a registration system creating a database of participants willing to participate, with specific skills matrix of areas of expertise. At some point this effort could be evolved as a distinguished "think tank" of Greek minds.

C.    Guidelines

1. Scope. The Forum’s scope is limited to discussions of Academic nature and of interest to Hellenism, on subjects related to HEC’s Charter and Mission.
2. Signature. All messages and essays must be signed by full name, title and institution, if permitted by the institution. Otherwise may not be approved by the moderators.
3. Significance. The Forum accepts contributions that are important enough for a scholarly understanding for matters of interest to Academia and Hellenism. Participants are required to evaluate the significance of their own messages before posting.
4. References. Messages and essays should be short, carefully checked for spelling and syntax, well documented with supporting arguments and references where is needed.
5. Personal. Messages should be addressed to the general audience, and not to individuals.
6. Cut/Paste – Participants should avoid posting cut/paste articles from other sources. Instead, should provide a short summary paragraph and a web link to the source.
7. Frequency. Posting into the forum should be limited by specific quotas for each participant and by the constraints of the technical resources.
8. Abuse. Offensive language, personal insults, partisan topics, collection of information from the forum networks, advertisements and promotional activity, explicit or implicit, are strictly prohibited.
9. Language. Part of the forum objectives is to reach and educate non-Greek speaking people. Therefore, primary language is English but Greek also can be used.
10. Projects. Participants of the forum are encouraged propose to initiate a project subject to approval by HEC EC, and/or participate into one already in progress.
11. Moderation. The Moderators reserve the right to suspend all messages of users that abuse the Forum network or the Forum guidelines without further notice. The Moderators reserve the right to reject a message, if it is outside these guidelines, offensive, irrelevant or insignificant, using their best and honest judgement.
12. Grievances & Resolutions. The moderators by vote among themselves could impose suspension for a period of time or even permanent suspensions to forum participants. 13. Acceptance. All participants must declare that they accept the Forum Guidelines, in order to be admitted to and remain in the Forum.
14. Disclaimer. HEC is not responsible for any opinions or ideas expressed by the Forum participants. The opinions expressed are those of the author(s) and not necessarily those of HEC.

D.    Subscription

ΤΟ ΒΗΜΑ ΔΙΑΛΟΓΟΥ ΤΩΝ ΚΑΘΗΓΗΤΩΝ ΤΟΥ ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΟΥ ΗΛΕΚΤΡΟΝΙΚΟΥ ΚΕΝΤΡΟΥ

1) Σκοπός

Το βήμα διαλόγου (φόρουμ) των Ελλήνων Καθηγητών έχει σκοπό να αποτελέσει το μέσον για την εξυπηρέτηση της επικοινωνίας των ερευνητών σε θέματα επιστημονικά που αφορούν τον Ελληνισμό. Το φόρουμ χρησιμοποιεί έναν κατάλογο παραληπτών ηλεκτρονικής αλληλογραφίας και ένα ιστολόγιο http://www.greece.org/blogs/scholars/, τα οποία διαχειρίζεται ομάδα συντονιστών με βάση τους κανόνες που αναλύονται κατωτέρω. Το φόρουμ είναι ανοιχτό σε οποιονδήποτε ερευνητή που είναι κάτοχος διδακτορικού διπλώματος. Δεν υπάρχει χρηματική συνδρομή, αλλά τα μέλη αναμένεται να κάνουν μια μικρή ετήσια συνδρομή κατ’ ελάχιστον 25 ευρώ προς τον οργανισμό που διοικεί το φόρουμ, δηλαδή, το Ελληνικό Ηλεκτρονικό Κέντρο (ΕΗΚ) www.greece.org . Το ΕΗΚ είναι μη κερδοσκοπικός, μη εμπορικός, μη κομματικός οργανισμός. Είναι νομικά καταχωρημένος στην Πολιτεία του Ντελαγουέρ των ΗΠΑ από το 1995 με άδεια Μη Κερδοσκοπικού Οργανισμού στην Εφορία των ΗΠΑ 501(C)3(51-0377653). Οι κύριοι στόχοι του ΕΗΚ είναι η προώθηση και η προάσπιση της Ελληνικής Ιστορίας, του Ελληνικού Πολιτισμού και της Ελληνικής Γλώσσας. Το βήμα διαλόγου των καθηγητών είναι έργο του ΕΗΚ.

Το φόρουμ λειτουργεί κάτω από τη δικαιοδοσία του ΕΗΚ και επομένως τα μέλη του πρέπει να γνωρίζουν και να υπακούουν στο καταστατικό του ΕΗΚ. Τα μέλη μπορούν να γίνουν κανονικά μέλη του ΕΗΚ - Δείτε εδώ.

2) Κανόνες

Πλαίσιο. Το πλαίσιο των θεμάτων του βήματος διαλόγου περιορίζεται στα επιστημονικά θέματα που αφορούν τον Ελληνισμό.

Υπογραφή. Όλα τα μηνύματα πρέπει να είναι υπογεγραμμένα με πλήρες όνομα, τίτλο και ίδρυμα, αλλιώς είναι πολύ πιθανόν να μη δημοσιεύονται.

Σημασία. Γίνονται δεκτές συνεισφορές που είναι αρκετά σημαντικές για την επιστημονική κατανόηση των θεμάτων που άπτονται του Ελληνισμού. Τα μέλη οφείλουν να αξιολογούν τα μηνύματά τους πριν τα αναρτήσουν.

Αναφορές. Τα μηνύματα και τα κείμενα πρέπει να είναι σύντομα, να έχουν ελεγχθεί για ορθογραφικά και συντακτικά λάθη και να είναι τεκμηριωμένα με αναφορές και υποστηρικτικά επιχειρήματα.

Προσωπικά. Τα μηνύματα πρέπει να απευθύνονται στο ευρύ κοινό και όχι σε άτομα.

Συχνότητα. Ο αριθμός των μηνυμάτων που αναρτώνται εκ μέρους κάθε μέλους καθορίζεται από τους περιορισμούς των διαθεσίμων πόρων.

Κατάχρηση. Υβριστική γλώσσα, προσωπικές προσβολές, κομματικά θέματα, συλλογή στοιχείων από τα δίκτυα του φόρουμ, διαφημίσεις και δραστηριότητες προώθησης ρητές ή υπονοούμενες, απαγορεύονται αυστηρώς.

Συντονισμός. Οι συντονιστές διατηρούν το δικαίωμα να απαγορεύουν χωρίς προειδοποίηση τη διανομή μηνυμάτων των μελών που προβαίνουν σε κατάχρηση των δικτύων του φόρουμ ή των κανόνων του. Οι συντονιστές διατηρούν το δικαίωμα να απορρίψουν μηνύματα τα οποία είναι άσχετα ή επουσιώδη, στηριζόμενοι στην ειλικρινή τους κρίση.

Αποδοχή των κανόνων. Τα μέλη αποδέχονται πλήρως τους κανόνες για να γίνουν δεκτά ή να συνεχίσουν να παραμένουν στο φόρουμ.

Γλώσσα. Το φόρουμ σκοπεύει εν μέρει να εκπαιδεύσει τους μη Έλληνες. Επομένως, εκτός από τα Ελληνικά, θα μπορούν να χρησιμοποιούνται και Αγγλικά ή άλλες γλώσσες.

Έργα. Κάθε μέλος ενθαρρύνεται να αρχίσει ένα έργο σχετικό με τον Ελληνισμό, υποκείμενο στην έγκριση από το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο του ΕΗΚ και να συμμετέχει σε έργα τα οποία είναι ήδη σε εξέλιξη.

Αποποίηση ευθύνης. Το ΕΗΚ δεν είναι υπεύθυνο σε καμία περίπτωση για τις απόψεις ή τις γνώμες που εκφράζουν τα μέλη του φόρουμ.
